Secure Entryways: Mr. Burkhart expressed concern about the number of entrances to the secondary schools that cannot be fully secured.  He recently had a situation where a community member entered the building through one of the shop doors.  There is no way for secretaries to monitor who enters the buildings from their office. The committee discussed the possibility of installing buzzers but then we’d have to have someone monitoring them all the time.  It was also noted that a secretary could buzz someone in, not realizing that they were hostile. The importance of a visitor badge/lanyard system with accurate staff training was discussed.  This can be added to the beginning of the year training for next school year so that staff knows that they must stop or notify the office of all visitors who are not displaying appropriate documentation for them to be in the school.
